Meg Liston had the rare privilege of showing the Uptown Theatre to the world-renowned French photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre. The talented artists are compiling a collection of photographs taken in old abandoned theaters in the United States. They flew from Paris to Detroit and then to KCI and drove from Kansas City to Sedalia.
Their previous collections of work included The Ruins of Detroit, Gunkanjuima and Theatres. They have had solo exhibitions of their works in Paris, Zurich, Stockholm, London, Berlin, Amsterdam and New York.
The artists were pleased that so much of the original art deco elements of the interior design remained. They spent about 2 hours in the theatre and headed out to Fulton and Jefferson City for more theaters. Yves & Romain said they would share their Uptown photos with S.D.D.I.
